Boise Jazz Society Members and Friends,
The Boise Jazz Society proudly presents guitarist Martin Taylor in concert on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 7pm and in a Free Boise Community Jazz Symposium at 4pm. Both events take place in the Esther Simplot Performing Arts Academy and a few non-BJS member tickets are still available at $45. Esther’s Place is set up for intimate, jazz listening with table seating, snacks, and no-host, adult beverages provided by Pug Ostling. Doors open at 6:15 pm for the concert.
The BJS is co-sponsoring the open night of the 13th annual Gene Harris Jazz Festival with The Monty Alexander Trio in concert on Thursday, April 22nd from 7-9 pm at the Stueckle Sky Center RR Ranch Club. This sophisticated venue provides beautiful views with table and bistro seating, cheese and crackers, a no-host, adult beverage bar, and free parking. And, with great music by pianist Monty Alexander, a Gene Harris protégé, all for $50, this might be the musical event of a late April night in Boise.
Wait, there’s more! BJS members receive a $10 discount off the general admission price above. But to get that discount, you will have to contact me, Mike, by phone or email to reserve and confirm your ticket by payment.
Just go to the Gene Harris web site and listen to the audio sampler: http://www.geneharris.org/ .
What you will quickly learn is that this year’s festival is chocked full of world-class jazz artists playing a diversity of jazz styles; swing, bop, blues, fusion, funk, and Latin jazz. And, the ticket pricing and packages can’t be beat! An all-event, package ticket is $140 for three days of jazz with seven different jazz groups, including Monty Alexander.
All events take place on the Boise State University campus in sophisticated environs such as the Stueckle Sky Center RR Ranch Club, Student Union Building Simplot Grand Ballroom, Lookout Room, and the Special Events Center. These venues offer classy atmospheres suitable for both student and adult listeners--some events offer over-21 amenities in a jazz-club setting. All with FREE campus PARKING.
If you want your BJS $10 discount combined with an all-event, package ticket at $130, I can make that happen, but you’ll have to contact me by phone or email directly.

Boise Jazz Society Benefits
The BJS presents a free Boise Community Jazz Symposium at 4 p.m. the afternoon of each concert. We call them "inform-ances" – music, conversation, and an interchange of ideas in a convivial atmosphere, where we meet, hear, and interact with the series artists, gaining insight into their music and a deeper understanding of jazz.
BJS "Members Only" Extras include living room jazz concerts, jazz listening and film parties, and jazz lectures.
Boise Jazz Society Private and Corporate Contributions are encouraged and help to sustain the organization. They are held by the Boise State University Foundation and are tax-deductible.
A Boise Jazz Society membership insures that jazz activities like the above happen year round in our community. We thank you for your enthusiastic support of the art of live jazz.
